IACAParticipates in Various Cultural Diversity Events
This past September and October, IACA has participated in many cultural diversity events across Central Indiana, to promote awareness of Chinese-American culture and to demonstrate support for cultural bridge-building.
The video links below give you a taste of what these events look and feel like.
First IACA Miss Indiana Preliminary Pageant Winner
Jasmine Hsu, a junior at Purdue University majoring in political science. has become the first IACA member to win a Miss Indiana preliminary pageant crown. She was crowned MIss Spirit of Indiana in October 2023, beating out roughly 20 other contestants, and will go on to compete at the Miss Indiana state pageant in June 2024 for a chance to become the next Miss America.
Contestants are judged according to five categories: private interview, talent, evening gown, fitness, and an on-stage interview about their community service project. Jasmine drew upon her classical piano training for her talent performance, and for her community service project she spoke about Level Up, a mentorship program for at-risk kids in Lafayette, IN that she started.
She will spend the next year as MIss Spirit of Indiana appearing at various community events to provide encouragement, cheer and support. If you are interested in booking her for an upcoming event, please contact her at dougandindira@gmail.com.
